Certified electrical work
Sockets, circuits and quiet problem solving.
Coral Quill is a small electrical practice for homes and modest commercial premises. We diagnose the awkward faults, upgrade tired boards, and leave the paperwork and the skirting board exactly as they should be.
Every circuit we touch is tested and signed off, with your certificate issued in writing.
Dust sheets down, cable routes planned, and the room put back before we leave it.
A fixed written quote for planned work, and an agreed rate before any diagnostic time begins.
What we do
Six things people call us about
Most of our week is domestic work with a steady thread of small commercial jobs. If your situation isn't listed, describe it in the form and we'll tell you honestly whether it suits us.
-
Fault finding
Tripping breakers, dead sockets, flickering lights. We trace the cause methodically instead of replacing parts hopefully.
-
Consumer unit upgrades
Replacing old fuse boards with modern protected units, including the testing and certification that follows.
-
Lighting design & install
Layered lighting for kitchens, stairwells and workspaces — dimming, zoning and fittings that suit the room.
-
EV charge points
Home charger installation with a supply assessment first, so the unit you buy matches the supply you actually have.
-
Rewires, full or partial
Staged rewiring planned around how you use the property, with clear notice of which rooms lose power and when.
-
Inspections & certificates
Condition reports for owners and landlords, written in language you can act on rather than filed and forgotten.
About the practice
A small team, deliberately
Coral Quill was set up so that the person who quotes your job is the person who turns up to do it. We keep the diary intentionally short — enough room for the planned installations and enough slack for the week's genuine faults.
- Qualified electricians only — no unsupervised labour on your circuits.
- Insured, certified work with test results handed over on completion.
- Written quotes that list materials, labour and anything we've flagged as optional.
- A sensible radius — we work close to home so we can get back quickly if needed.
How it works
Four steps, no surprises
-
Tell us what's happening
Send the form with as much detail as you have. Photographs of the board or the fitting help more than you'd think.
-
We reply with a plan
Either a fixed quote, or an agreed diagnostic visit with the rate confirmed in writing beforehand.
-
The work happens
We arrive in the agreed window, protect the space, and tell you before anything is switched off.
-
Tested, signed, tidied
Circuits tested, certificate issued, offcuts taken away. You get a short note on anything worth watching.
Questions
Before you get in touch
How quickly can you look at a fault?
Faults are triaged ahead of planned installations. When you describe the symptoms in the form, tell us whether the property currently has safe working power — that's what decides where you sit in the queue.
How do you price work?
Planned work — lighting, chargers, board replacements, rewires — is quoted as a fixed price after we've seen the property or clear photographs. Fault finding is charged for the diagnostic time at a rate you approve first, and that time counts towards the repair if you ask us to carry on.
Can you provide a landlord's certificate?
Yes. We carry out condition inspections on rented property and issue the report with a plain-language summary of anything that needs attention, separated into what must be fixed and what can wait.
Will my supply take an EV charger?
Usually, but not always, and we check rather than assume. We assess the incoming supply and existing load before recommending a unit, so you don't buy a charger that has to be de-rated once it's on the wall.
How long will the power be off?
For most socket and lighting work, one circuit at a time for under an hour. Board replacements need a full shutdown for a few hours, and we agree that window with you in advance so you can plan around it.

Tell us about the job
One short form. We read every enquiry ourselves and reply with either a quote, a few follow-up questions, or an honest pointer elsewhere if it isn't our kind of work.
- Describe the symptoms rather than the diagnosis — it helps us prepare.
- Mention access constraints, pets, or anyone at home who needs notice.
- If it's an installation, note the fitting or charger you have in mind.
